46th Annual Toms River Paddle Race

Races consist of an 8.5 mile down river and a 4 and 6 mile open water race. The Open Water event begins with a group start and follows a 2 mile loop east of Huddy Park in a sheltered bay. The open water classes include recreational and touring kayaks, surfski, outrigger canoe, and SUPs. Life Guard closed hull rowboats racers will compete in 4 or 6 miles distances. Winning times range from 15 minutes for the 4 mile and 1 hour plus for the 6 mile. The Down River race is 8.5 miles and held on the Toms River from Riverwood Park to Huddy Park in the center of Toms River, NJ. The course is 85% slow moving water with many turns. Solo and tandem canoes and kayaks and new Youth Fun Race are typical river racers.
Free transportation for you and your boat to the start. Winning times range from 1 hour 20 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes. Youth Fun Race – shorter 4.5 mile course for 16 yr. olds and younger. Scout leaders and/or parents responsible for transportation to the start. Class winners receive a wooden paddle trophy for 1st place, 2nd and 3rd place receive a race medal. A minimum of two paddlers required in class for awards.
8AM- Registration opens- racers should check in and register if not pre registered. Also pick up number, sign waiver and get t-shirt if with in first 40 registered.
8:30AM- Down River Race shuttles start and continue every 45 minutes there after. Your shuttle time will be confirmed via e-mail. ALL RACERS MUST HAVE A P.F.D.
10AM- The 4 mile Open Water race begins, please arrive at least 30 minutes prior. ALL RACERS MUST HAVE A P.F.D.
11AM- The 6 mile Open Water race begins, please arrive at least 30 minutes prior. ALL RACERS MUST HAVE A P.F.D.
12PM- Lunch provided by the Girl Scouts of Ocean County.
1:30PM- Awards ceremony.
